THey have also cleared lots of forest up there because of a buch of new cabins coming up. But they are not gonna not be built before next season. This winter will be the best in yeeeaars!!

My mom is a little sad these days. She just found out that some groundowners wantto build a dam by one of her favourite hikes. They plan to put three of the amazing creeks next to the trail into pipes, and build a dam right there. In the application they indirectly claim that this is just an ugly area that no-one really uses. Thats what makes her go off so we went up there to take some photos of the area that she can add to the public hearing. The hike is great. And so close, you can walk 15 minutes from the centre of Voss and be on the trail. It leads you straight from the beach up to Graosido, the mountain that separates Voss from the Hardanger fjord.
Heres is were the dam is gonna be:

Why would they want to trap this amazing creature in a pipe?! Someone will get $$ but this value will be messed up forever. The plants and animals living here will have to go somewere else to get water. Their wild home keeps tightening in and restricting their natural space. Seems like they don't have much to say.
This field here between the trail and Vannjolo creek was full of deer tracks:

Here is down by the road above the beach were you can start the hike:

What happend since the last post back in March?!You must be tripping of excitement!
So people here comes the late turbo-update to sum it all up
APRIL: Gunnis was leading the Freeridecup but after a giving it all in the last competition she missed the line and face/buttplanted in the bottom of the wrong cliff. Anyway she ended up on an impressive 2nd overall, beating all of the Norwegian ladies! Here is one of the many articles about Gunnis
Then around in those days I went over to India for a while, trying to sort out the developerteam for the new weathersite storm.no.

Delhi was too close to Nepal for not flying over there so I had a little week in the Himalaya rivers. They were extremely low this time of year, thow. Should have been there in October they all say. Let the picture speak for itself

MAY: I'm back in Bergen working my arse off but in exactly 10 days I'm off to join Elements Tour in British Columbia! Hopefully I'll get time to do some updates from that trip. Gunnis is in Bosnia competing in the world championships in rafting(!!) I'm excited to see the results very soon on vossraftingklubb.com

So long, hopefully live from BC!

Laget består no av desse sterke damene:
Valerie Bertrand (160 cm)
Kristin Gluck Evensen (162 cm)
Margrethe Alm (165 cm)
Gunvor Wæhle (162 cm)
Torill Pedersen (160 cm)
Ragne Elise Berre (174 cm)

This week has been wet, wet, wet, but the rain still came as snow at the tops. That means lots of heavy, wet snow which is amazing to surf on if you have fat enough skiis or just a board :D Every ride I had at least 3 faceplants when the nose of my board got caught in the heavy snow and threw me violently down like a rag-doll
Tracks going into one of the huge craters I made.. Lizzie not so affected

If you drive a half hour south-east of voss you're by the Hardanger fjord. If you drive through the tunnel and another half hour back towards voss but outside the tunell and next to the fjord, you end up at a little farm called Tjoflot. Walk a couple of hours straight up and your'e standing at the top of the world looking over mile after mile of mountains and fjords. Here are some photos from the walk up and there are some more at Benjis website here.
